Web, API, iOS and macOS
Outcome
100% sales increase

Problem

350K+ existing users, but promotions were hard-coded into releases and could not be changed or tested quickly.

Solution

A remotely managed campaign feed with A/B variants, plus app-side rules that decide what each customer should see.

Impact

Sales increased by more than 100% while frequency controls protected the product experience.

The problem

FIPLAB’s apps were reaching hundreds of thousands of people, but every product largely operated as an isolated storefront. Shipping another application update whenever a promotion changed was slow, blunt and gave us no fast way to test what worked.

The aim was to show a relevant product without turning the apps into advertising billboards.

The solution

I designed a web-controlled promotion platform. Campaigns could be launched, changed or stopped without waiting for an App Store release.

The server supplied campaign data; each app decided what to show

The server sent the current offers, creative, placements and A/B variants. Each app then evaluated that data locally against the products installed, its own specification, the customer’s macOS version, launch count and other eligibility rules before deciding whether and what to display.

The evidence

Campaign data and A/B variants could be updated centrally, while every app retained control of product-specific eligibility and placement. Results compared creative, offers and placements using conversion data rather than opinion.

See which offer worked

Apps reported exposure, interaction and conversion events in batches. Results could be compared by audience and variant, while each app excluded the product already in use.

Protect the product experience

Frequency controls and relevant targeting protected the product experience. An aggressive campaign that annoys customers is an expensive way to buy a short-term result.

The impact

The platform reached more than 350,000 users and increased sales by over 100%. FIPLAB gained a measurable growth channel it controlled across the portfolio.

The result

FIPLAB could test offers across its existing audience without another app release.
